The Appeal of Sade Lombok Village
Visually, the uniqueness of Sade Traditional Village stands out through the vernacular architecture of its traditional houses. The people really maintain the authenticity and integrity of the traditional house. Built using local techniques and materials to realize its socio-cultural functions.
Standing on an area of about five hectares, the Sade Traditional Village is one of the hamlets in Rembitan Village, Pujut, Central Lombok. A conservation village as a cultural preserver that has existed since 600 years ago and has been a tourist destination since the days of the Dutch East Indies.
As vernacular architecture becomes increasingly difficult to find in modern times, Sade Village naturally offers something exotic that supports Lombok Island tourism. As a tourist village, Sade began to be legalized in 1990 by the 3rd President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Bj. Habibi.
Over time, this village is increasingly in demand, both by domestic and foreign tourists. More than the charm of a traditional house, Sade Village is also a popular tourist destination for shopping for woven fabrics, accessories, batik and traditional Sasak clothing.
Sade women are very good at weaving, because it has become a necessity for them. As for the men are traditionally fighters. This can be seen from one of its traditional arts, namely Presean. Stick Fighting, Caucasians call it.
Another uniqueness of Sade Village is the style or lifestyle of the people who are very traditional and uphold local wisdom. The majority are Muslims, but some still adhere to Wetu Telu Islam, which only pray three times a day.
The Sade community, which number around 700, also has a unique tradition of marriage. The weddings there are still carried out in one clump in order to maintain the authenticity of its citizens. Uniquely, when getting married, women must first be kidnapped by the men.

The Sasak Sade community used to build houses in the 3rd and 12th months of the Sasak calendar, namely Rabiul Awal and Dzulhijjah. They don't build during Muharram and Ramadan because they are believed to invite bad things. Illness and difficult sustenance for example.
The people in Sade Village are also selective in placing the houses to be built. For one thing, they did not build houses in the opposite direction or size that was different from the existing houses. Breaking this concept is considered against taboo (maliq lenget).
